16. FIRE RESISTANT STRUCTURES
Ferrocement is the appropriate material for fire resistance having capacity to resist fire up to 750°C for      a period of 48 hours and even more. Ferrocement can be modified to resist even high temperature,      say 1200°C to 1500°C. Cover of cement matrix to wire mesh is about 4-5mm only.

17. SOIL STABILISATION
Ferrocement can be adopted to improve bearing capacity of soil, for foundation of buildings, bridge,       dams, etc. It can be adopted for soil stabilisation for road construction, slope retainment and for       prevention soil movement due to artificial or natural forces.

18. PIPES
Steel and cast iron pipes corrode after several years from inside and outside. Ferrocement being       corrosion resistant material, ferrocement pipes are preferable. Sometimes stainless steel lining is       provided for conveyance of pharmaceutical and food products. When hot or cold liquid is passed       through ferrocement pipes, the insulation cost is reduced in view of low conductivity of ferrocement.

19. SEWER LINES
Sewer Lines are generally constructed in masonry or cement concrete. Ferrocement, being superior       material to these, is preferable for construction of sewer lines. It is convenient to manufacture       ferrocement curvilinear cross section sewer lines.

For assured and uniform quality precast sewer lines manufactured as components and assembled in       position are still better.

20. BRIDGE
Ferrocement can contribute effectively in construction of bridges. Ferrocement being crack resistant as       well as pollution resistant the external surface of bridge girders, piers can be with pre-cast       ferrocement lost shuttering. For jetties and deep bridge piers steel plate lost shuttering is used from       the construction facility point of view. These steel plates can be replaced by ferrocement and its life       will be much more than steel plates because steel plates corrode in due course of time.

21. FOOT BRIDGE
Foot bridge with ferrocement girders, decking, railing and roof is better than RCC and steel.

22. STRENGTHENING OF RCC STRUCTURES
Ferrocement lining can be used for increasing the strength of structures. Sometime the strengthening is      required to be carried out for erroneously designed structures or structures damaged due to onslaught      of earthquake or fire.

23. SULPHATE RESISTANT CEMENT SAVING
The sulphate salts in the soil attack concrete of foundations such as footings, plinth beams, piles, etc.      The sulphate resistant cement is much costly as compared to normal cement. The external surface of      such foundation structures can consists of ferrocement plates/lining using sulphate resistance cement.      The core concrete can be of normal cement. Since the ferrocement plate of the exterior shall be of      about 20-25mm thick use of sulphate resistant cement is reduced considerably. Thus there is saving in      cost.

24. PRE-CAST FERROCEMENT STRUCTURES
Pre-cast ferrocement members are of thin section and hence light as compared to RCC and sometimes      prestressed. Since these structural members are light the cost of handling is reduced considerably.      Therefore ferrocement is most appropriate in pre-cast industry.
